Some say that everyone's fate is already determined. If that's the case, Estelle Marzena is greatly disappointed with hers. Her greatest dream is to participate in the Illyrian Blood Rite and become a Carynthian warrior, like so many in her family. She has been training for the Rite her entire life, and yet, she continues to be told that she isn't ready. Estelle must find a way to prove her skills to her mentors so that she can prove her skills to the world, and she might have unwittingly stumbled across a way to do that. Being the bastard son of the High Lord of Dawn isn't something Mikael Anik takes lightly. Despite his parents' love and acceptance, Mikael continued to feel the pressure and unease of his people. His birth parents never married and he is a Peregryn halfbreed, the likes of which had never become a High Lord before. Mikael is devoted to proving himself to both his fathers and his people, but can he do that and deal with a surprisingly irritating Shadowsinger at the same time? Mara. A curse, an illness, an undeniable fate similar to death for the long-life species. One that you're more than enough to be familiar with. After all, since the start, you've expected this kind of price at least when you bite into that fruit Yaoshi has blessed. But it still surprises you just how much immortality is gonna take from you. In the end, here you are, inside an empty, dark, and gas filled prison. > Cross-posted over to Ao3 < (The protagonist is Primus Immortus, they have a personality, a name, and most importantly a face. But you can still self-insert, since I'm using 2nd POV) (Also, this is not super lore accurate, since there's little to know about Primus Immortus in the first place, so take this story with a grain of salt)
