Tris doesn't want to take part in the selection, she's happy living a boyfriend free life and sneaking into Dauntless training sessions before going home. To nothing.
Abnegation is the bottom caste, the public servants, wearing grey clothes that stay ripped and worn for months. There is nothing in Abnegation and with her brother married into Erudite, her parents enter her into the selection as a final hope.

I have read the selection series and loved them, though I can hardly remember how the process works I don't want to have to read them all again. So please correct me if something about the selection process is wrong though some things will be changed to fit in with the Divergent series more.
Some ideas-as stupid as it sounds-are from Barbie Princess charm school because it's kinda the same starting concept.

This story will answer your questions. After her brother, Caleb chooses the enemy Beatrice picks Abnegation to stay with her family and is determined to fit in. Beatrice just wants her life to be normal but some people prevent that from happening. Beatrice will learn that life can't be perfect and she has to accept that there will always be problems. Beatrice and Tobias fight the obstacles that come their way together. The one who wanted for something that her parents were supposed to give to her, but neither of them did. Her brother Tobias was the only one who did, and they both shared the pain of an abusive father, Marcus Eaton. They knew that they had to get away from him and his abusive ways, they also didn't care how they did, but one thing was for certain. Everything was about to change for both of them. ||Set 2 years before the Divergent book series began.
