When I was reading a book series, I got carried away with so many of the things in canon. Taking place after the aftershock of the War of the Ember, I wish to tell a tale of the displaced owls of Kuneer, a tale of a fight over the fates of hagsfiends' reincarnations, a tale of the fallout of the H'rathgar Glacier Cataclysm, a tale of the Ice Bridge from beyond the Beyond, a tale of how the creatures of the Kingdom of Ambala adapt to their changing world: a tale of owls and snakes and more who laugh and cry and wish and learn, in kingdoms almost entirely their own, far from the forests of Tyto where we first saw the Ga'Hoole world.
⚠⚠ The original lore for the series seems at best insensitive and at worst weirdly racist at times when it comes to its in-story cultures and backstories "inspired" by real ones. This story can't be much better, as I'm the wrong person to write it, so reader discretion is advised.
⚠ As a fanfiction, this has spoilers for a series, but you probably aren't going to read the series anyway.
"You're different from what I expected," she said softly.
"How so?" he asked, glancing at her.
"I don't know," she replied, searching for the right words. "You just... have this way of making people feel like they matter. Even here, in this... nightmare."
He was quiet for a moment before responding. "You matter, Y/n. Don't forget that."

Y/n wakes up in the deadly Squid Game, surrounded by strangers and fighting to survive. What she doesn't know is that the mysterious Frontman is watching her every move through the cameras- and she's caught his attention.
