Emerald, a siren-mermaid mix is the personal guard to princess Lucy, the to-be queen of the southern sea kingdom. While out one day in a cove of an island, Emerald sacrifices herself to protect her queen.

Amory, a feared pirate who will do anything for gold, is out on the hunt for a mermaid to bring back to her customer. She finds two in the cove of the cotton islands cove with a shark pup, casting her nets she captures one, bringing it and the shark up onto the hard wooden decks of her ship..
