A Pride and Prejudice fanfiction.
Regency setting. Based on the 2005 movie - picking up the story with the trainwreck proposal in the rain which ends with Darcy actually kissing Lizzy. Having his proposal rejected in no uncertain terms, Darcy has to work through his favourite lady's accusations while Lizzy has to come to terms with her conflicting feelings. When tragedy hits the Bennet family, Darcy and Lizzy each need to overcome their difficulties to maintain a chance on happiness in their lives.

It has very similar plot points to the original, but adapted to a modern setting. However, I don't think you need to have read Pride & Prejudice to read this! I have just finished reading Pride and Prejudice for the 100th time, and I really wanted to see how Elizabeth and Darcy handle their married life, so I decided to write my own sequel. This is just to satisfy my own wild side, I have never been to Great Britain (but I would love to!), and I know very little of the 19th century traditions. *I appreciate all the corrections I get on the culture/timeline/location/language/plotline dearly and would do my best to fix my mistakes in the story.
