Carol doesn't know where she came from. With the war between the Draca and the Knights becoming more intense with every week, and the hidden tension of the crown becoming harder and harder for the people to ignore, the country of Tyredian is struggling, and the surrounding territories are noticing. In a world where children are dying, twelve-year-olds are being trained to go off to war, and the royal family is falling apart, Carol Hayburn-Charter is finishing her military training and preparing, along with her three close friends, to join the fight. But are these four seventeen-year-olds being sent off to fight for the right side of this battle? Who is the real enemy? And are they being forced to fight for a cause that they can't be sure they know everything about?

This is a story about conquering oneself. It is a story that explores topics such as morality, the importance of platonic and romantic love, and the importance of following one's heart. This book is an adventure/fantasy story that takes place in a medieval/King-Arthur-esque world.
