Loraine's Travels

*This is a novella-length story and my first completed work. It may seem rushed and I apologize!*

"He approached her, the necklace dangling.

It was beautiful, perhaps the most beautiful thing she had seen. The chain was silver-sparkling, pure silver. On it hung an amber pendant no bigger than a peach pit. When she took a closer look, she realized there were small carvings in the crystal. They were just swirls, but still, the color was exquisite and Loraine couldn't take her eyes away. It was as if the necklace itself was pulling her in, keeping her paralyzed and staring into the gem. She stepped back."

Loraine is nothing but a traveling merchant. She lives a simple life exploring the world and selling the goods she picks up on her adventures.

Auriel is a strange place, and Loraine isn't too thrilled to visit it. She wants nothing to do with the controlling rulers and timid townsfolk--she just wants to stay for a weekend and leave immediately.

But, what happens when Loraine finds herself the new owner of a powerful artifact? What happens when the main ruler of Auriel wants it?
