It's been a year since Johnny and Dally's deaths and Ponyboy and Darry decide that it would be a good idea for Pony to sign up to be an exchange student, to just get him out of Tulsa and clear his head. He's been having more nightmares and keeps having breakdowns in places him, Johnny, and Dally used to go. So, when he gets a his exchange for the year he goes to Los Angeles, California, where he meets the one and only Daniel Larusso.
