Project Rebirth was an assignment from a creative writing class in 2016. The instructions were to write any story we want, but with the first sentence provided to us. I was in a little bit of a "Robot Apocalypse" phase with my taste in fiction, and wanted to write a twist on the concept where maybe AI isn't totally evil. In hindsight I think the concept needed more room the breathe, and writing it so short meant none of my ideas were nuanced or really properly explored. Being a "tech-good" absolutist or a "tech bad" absolutist is wrong in both cases I feel, but with only 3500 words I didn't have time to get into a middle ground.

At first I thought I'd pick something a bit out of my comfort zone (so.... NOT SciFi for once...) to expand my horizon, but when I saw a prompt about time travel I was immediately inspired. This story takes place on Earth in the 2040's. Is based on fiction and apocalyptic genre. The protagonist was the last environmentalist and his services were requested by the government. Rebecca, his lover, traveled in time for multiple occasions trying to find a solution to save humankind and the planet from severe contamination. Once, she saw his lover dying in the future for rejecting a direct order from the government. Rebecca Alingston decides to forcefully transform Dillon into a super robot which will be known as H.O.P.E. As part of her plan, Hope will save humankind and Earth, then later in the future will save her. After the transformation Hope turns out to have a partial amnesia and doesn't remember about his past person. Now he will try to find out who he is and why is he programmed to save humanity. In his journey he finds a friend, Evans an optimist person who will literally change his life forever.Terminé
