USS Washington BB-47 was supposed to be sunk in 1924 as a dummy ship, instead it was put into a limbo state of nearly being sunk and being converted to a aircraft carrier, in 1930 the navy decided to turn it into a aircraft carrier of the Ranger class and be extended to meet up with the demands of that ship class, it was finished in 1934 due to set backs and multiple budget cuts and was commissoned as USS Washington Cv-5. USS Washington had earned 19 battlestars serving on both oceans during the second world war one famous occasion was how it was part of the group that sank yamato, It had also helped the allied forces on D-day providing aircover for soldiers on the beaches, unfortunately a month before the war ended a wolf pack of 7 submarines caught USS Washington off guard and torpedoed it with about 12 torpedos before Washington slipped beneath the waves with only 7 casualtys from his sinking.
