They called me badqismat, unlucky. My own community told me I'd be better off dead, that I was a carrier of shame and unbearable to look at.

They didn't know my story. They didn't know how I illegally crossed the border, witnessed the murder of my beloved father, went to my sister's funeral, and watched my mother pull every hair on her scalp until she withered away like a dead weed.

Injustice. Corruption. Tyranny. Despotism. Unfortunately, I knew the meaning of these words from an early age.

But things took a turn. And now, they call me by my name. Aadila. It means just. Fair. The bringer of justice and the ender of corruption.

This is my journey through a hellish storm and how it paved my way towards becoming the best female lawyer in Pakistan.

My name is Aadila and this is my story.
