Nicholas, Carlos, Drew, Josh, and Lobo take the trip into the broken United States which is called the Shattered Union now.  Along their 30 day hike to Montana, they encounter many things and do what it takes to survive.  Each one of Nicholas's friends asks how Nicholas survived the first time he came back from the Unified Korean Federation.
