The fifteen years old orphan Edeline Wigsley gets tired of her ordinary life in the orphanage. Every evening she looks through the windows of her tiny room in the attic of the building, imagining how it would be if.... Unfortunately the landlady did not allow the orphans to leave further than fifty metres away from the orphanage. With help of Cecile Mceleny she manages to escape. She runs of together with Mceleny to the mansion of the family Lefèvre. On their way they face several obstacles but they make it to the mansion, starved and thirsty. Lady Lefèvre takes care of them and they meet the young Julianne Lefèvre. A girl who’s been through more than other girls her age. But can they trust Lady Lefèvre? And what happened to the young Julianne?
