Bon-hwa always had a hard life, spending most of her life constantly trapped in a cycle of hell. She spent so much time working just to pay off her debt and financially support her son, Shi-hoo... But no matter how hard she worked, she could never escape the cycle of hell she called life.
One day, she was approached by a mysterious man with a briefcase, who offered her the chance to simply play some games for a chance to win money.
But upon entering these games... Everything she was met with in there would change her life completely.
Upon entering the games, Bon-hwa would discover that players who would lose any of the games would be killed. Despite the horror she felt witnessing death and risking her own life, Bon-hwa decided to tough it out- in hopes of finally earning enough money to flip her life around.
During these deadly games, Bon-hwa will face many horrors. From watching the many players and new friends around her die, to facing the trauma these games inflict upon her. Despite the constant death around her though... Bon-hwa isn't alone in this journey.
Upon arriving in the games, Bon-hwa would immediately be met with another surprise... Her old childhood friend Seong Gi-hun, who she initially hadn't spoken to in so many years. The pair's tight bond and friendship they had would grow stronger than ever upon working together in these games, the love the two have for one another finally coming to light as well.
And after everything they go through together in the first games, the two somehow manage to make it out alive... And years later, would end up back in those deadly games again, with one goal: To stop the games once and for all.
