Eleanor lives in the beautiful Lockwood where everything is more expensive than a human life, at least that's what her parents think. Every Sunday they go to church and in the afternoon they drink black coffee and drown their sins in it. Eleanor's parents sent her to her aunt and there she discovers a grand secret her family has been keeping from her since her birth. Eleanor doesn't want to be this person, she doesn't like the life she's living, so she'll change with a bit help of people she thinks are her friends.

Windows are made to keep everything in, right? They're made to stop things that you don't want from coming in, and to stop you from jumping out. Well, Kyle Thomson jumps out of windows for a girl, the girl. Eleanor Lilliman. She isn't a lousy crush to him- he loves her and she doesn't know it. But she could never love him back anyway, she made him keep a promise to her that he could never love her for reasons too difficult to explain. But if he ever did love her, there'd be no friendship. There'd be no more jumping out of windows- there'd be two strangers walking by without as little as a glance. And so, Kyle watches Eleanor fall in and out of love with guys who only love her in all the ways that he wouldn't. He is her shoulder to cry on and he doesn't mind it, he only minds that she doesn't realise that shes crying on a person that could keep the tears away. But one night, Kyle jumps out another window that has the potential to ruin his friendship and Eleanor Lilliman forever. Does it?
