Growing up Lucia had two rules: 
1. Never speak a word to another individual 
2. Never set forth in the ocean 

She was told that she was cursed as a baby and if she did either one of those things, terrible misfortune would befall both her and  those who hear her. 

But one day, she ignores the word of warning and speaks to another individual: her fiancé . The very next day pirates break into her in-laws house and they decided to take her as payment for some uncollected debt. 

Now she is under the mercy of the most fearsome pirate captain in all the land: Captain Bloodstone. Stories of his misadventures keep both adults and children up at night. After learning the true secret about Lucia,  he has taken an interest in her.  Will Lucia be able to escape his grasp with her head and her heart intact?All Rights Reserved

Will she be able to venture into the unknown, and survive out of the watchful eye of the palace? This book has sexual reference and mentions of things that could possibly be triggering to some - e.g. young motherhood and loss of a parent. This work is usually split into two parts, but I have decided to take down the second part, and consider the first part, one book for now, so I can work on the second. When the second part/book has been finished, I'll decide whether I like it as one book or to reincorporate the rest of the book to make it one. Entered in the Wattys(2020)!

If Lucia gets a kiss by the merman, she'll be a mermaid for all eternity. If the princess gets a kiss from the prince on land, she will be human again. If not, she will be lost in the world of water.
