This is not your typical story. Sydney is not flawless and prancing around a mate. She is constantly fighting and alone. No allies and no friends. I strive to make my books unique. Now for the summary; My whole society is made of Shifters, all the humans are dead. Everyone has a different shift. Mine is a Lion. We are said to be as dead as the humans. The Tiger-Shifters  are in charge but it is said in the Legends that Lions are right to rule. The Tigers have killed all the Lions. If they find me they will do the same to me. But I will not hide any more, I will put the Tigers in their place. For Lions are the mightiest form and all know this. They will pay for all they have done.

It hurt. "L-let me go, you, you're hurting me!" I looked up at him scared, his eyes were now completely dark, and the next thing I noticed were pointed teeth poking out from his lips. I screamed and pushed at him but he didn't budge. I then raised my knee and kneed him between the legs with all my force, and he dropped like a rock, holding his groin. Run. I took my chance. And ran. ~~~ Nora Brown, a normal adult, living a normal life. Moving away from home to start fresh and meet new people. Just going where life takes her. It was a Mating Run. Our Shaman would do a ritual, say a prayer, and then I'd shift as I went into heat. I would get a one mile head start and then the males who were competing for me to be their mate would shift and run after me. I had a total of twenty miles laid out for me. No one but me and the Shaman knew the route I was taking. They'd be running up and down hills, along a ridge, through a river, through a system of caves and finally an all out mad dash the last three miles. The best, if their was a best, would catch me. Their last task was to convince my pup to submit and let them mount and claim me. If they couldn't and I made it back without being mounted then I was free. A barbaric rite but one that was a fact of our existence everyone who came of age did it. Males were more likely to pass and not get mounted. Females pretty much always got mounted. So I was doomed. Any male of any race was allowed to run. Though few outside the race of the runner tried. Since I was a Were-dog I was expecting mostly them.

'No. Go away, let me rest for a time and I'll take my babies and leave your territory.' 'You can't just wonder around with a newborn. How are you going to care for them. Come with us we'll take care of you until you get back on your feet.' 'No, I don't know you. Go away.' 'We won't hurt you.' I couldn't believe that, I couldn't trust these strangers. They were lions, lions were not known for being kind. I'd come out and they'd kill me and my babies.

When I was 13 my beloved brother was banished and scarred on his face. I was forced to watch as he begged father not to do it. I'm now 16 and been separated from him for 3 long years. I don't talk to anyone much anymore because he was my only salvation in the palace because my father thought I was a failure like he was. But thankfully I have Cody who is boyfriend. His mother and father are two rich monarchs in the fire nation....but now things are about to change because the Avatar who is the last Airbender has been spotted around the world and I want to join up with him to stop the war. I want to find my brother. I want to find my mother. But most of all I want to stop the war my grandfather had brought upon the world. I was going to make a difference.
