Selective mutism is an anxiety disorder characterized by a person's inability to speak in certain social settings such as at school, work, or in the community.
Eileen has had this disorder for her entire life. She's selfless, kind and has a heart that is filled with pure gold. Navigating through her teen years has proven to be smooth sailing for the most part.
Ashtray O'Neil has spent his entire life living each day as if it were his last. Being a drug dealer meant that he had to keep his shit together 24/7. Ironically, he and his older brother played good cop, bad cop, you can only guess which one was Ash.
Both teens have yet to let anybody in. They're too prideful, too confident in being alone. But what happens when fate has them meet at wrong time, in the wrong place?

Drugs and Family. When the former is no longer a major part of his life, how will Ash adjust to being a normal 16 year old teen? He grew up hardened. Always had to watch his back, trust nobody and didn't give a damn about what you had to say or do, so long as his family was protected. And he definitely didn't mind cussing dumbasses out for no reason. Mia was more than just a materialistic girl. She's had boys pining over her for years yet none were successful as she had her own problems. With a body builder for a mother and an alcoholic for a father, it made for the perfect recipe of a daughter who's developed an eating disorder at a young age. She grew up with a big heart. Despite this, she masked it with a 'no fucks given' attitude and decided that she may feel weak on the inside, but she will not be weak on the outside. Both had their hearts on lock but what happens when they unnoticeably give each other the one and only keys? --- "No, my nail!" I whined, holding it up. "You just paid for these the other day!" "It's okay Mia," Ash said as he took my hand in his own to examine it. "It's not!" I said. "It hurts and looks tacky, what am I gonna do now?" Was I being dramatic? Yes, I was. Did I care?
