Most may know the story of the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. However, what if the worst thing that could have happened... did happen?
What if Link DID die that day, and Zelda had to save the day instead?
In this Breath of the Wild AU, Link dies and it's up to Zelda to save the day; and perhaps her knight.

Zelda and Link have finally reunited after the Calamity, and there's a lot to do to restore Hyrlue to its former glory. On their adventures together, Link and Zelda get closer than they ever were before. Could this finally be the Zelink we've all been waiting for? So we all want Zelink to happen, don't we, so I made this short story just as a substitute until it really happens (probably never). Zelda Hyrule's life has always been one that is not her own. Zelda has always been the spitting image of what her Father wants her to be. She has never broken a rule. That being, never been out past 9 pm, has never cut a class, and most importantly, has never, ever had a boyfriend. She goes to her private academy like her Father wants, and that's the end of her story. However, her fate takes an unfortunate turn when she accidentally gets herself blamed for something she didn't do and is expelled. Now, with her Father furious with her, she has no choice but to finish out her high school years at a regular public school. She has her eyes set on clearing her name, and no intention of staying in this crappy public school. As if by pure sheer coincidence, or maybe it was fate, she meets Link. Link, the silent superstar of the school, who, in her hour of need, comes to her side with no hesitation. She is undoubtedly drawn to him, yet she needs to stay away. As she progresses day by day, she meets a couple of new friends, and even a few enemies. Will Zelda clear her name? Or will she stay in this public dump for a couple of friends and a silent knight? Amnesia was a funny thing. It strips you of all memories, both good and bad. But what it didn't take away from Link was his caring heart. He wasn't a man who had time to deal with or worry about things like memories anyway. All he cared about was doing what was right. But just because Link had no memories, or any interest to reclaim them, didn't mean they wouldn't return to haunt him. Ever since Link woke up, strange things have been happening around the land. Horrific creatures, not quite monster and not quite human, begin appearing at night to terrorize the denizens of Hyrule. Link, not one to simply let such evils do as they please, decides to investigate into the matter as he travels across the land to find a way to destroy these creatures. It should've been just another job for him, just a problem the people needed solved, just another errand for the incarnation of Hylia's hero. But as he investigates, he is haunted by his past. Link's mind cannot remember what happened. But his heart did. He still feels what he lost, what he failed to protect, even after one hundred years. That's what draws something toward Link, the very same evil that created the creatures he faces. It follows and watches him from the shadows, taunting him, waiting for him to remember the past he's forgotten, waiting for the pain to resurface, waiting for the time he can no longer carry the weight of it all. As he journeys on his quest to defeat Ganon and save Princess Zelda, Link must learn to contend with another ancient evil that taints the land, all while facing the ghosts of his forgotten past. Time has passed. Hyrule is getting rebuilt. Zelda on the other hand is not quite sure what to do. She is no longer a princess, She's a queen with responsibilities. A dark force is looming. Old friends are getting rediscovered but that boy. That man. Link. There's an unfinished story with him. This is my take on the universe. There will be new characters that aren't canon. There will be a few POV swaps but let's see if I can make this a cohesive story.
