**This is an old story I had written in my head years ago when the series was still on Nickelodeon, and most of what I had originally written out was dialogue, so I apologize for any lack of detail or imagery-I don't have much time to devote to it as I'd like. I've read quite a few fanfic stories out there and this one isn't very good in comparison, but I'll post it for others who might find it entertaining--it was certainly entertaining to write.

Also, I understand a lot of readers don't like stories that follow canon. This one does follow the show for the most part, but eventually digresses, follows, and digresses again.

Disclaimer: I own nothing of the world of ATLA, although a few characters were seriously harmed (or killed) in the imagining of this fictional story.

Eira woke up to Ursa kissing her head. "Mmm..." She rubbed her eyes. "Sweetie," Ursa spoke. "I know how you feel and I'm sorry I can't be here to protect you. I wish I could bring you, but I can't." "... Ursa?" She mumbled as she tried focusing her eyes. "I know multiple people in your life come and go, but please, please understand whatever I do is to protect Zuko." "Zuko...?" "I need you to be there for him now. Whatever happens, be there for my boy. Watch over him, guide him-- be his friend, Eira. Promise me." "Hm... yeah... Promise. I like being his friend. He's nice... cute." Ursa softly smiled. "Good luck. Be better than me." Ursa placed another kiss on her cheek before getting up and leaving. The next morning, Ursa was gone.
