Maeve is a thief, she is also alone in a dark and dangerous city but she isn't afraid, not of the city at least. Something within her, something unknown to her, gives her power. 
Alasdair is a farmer and a soldier, he is also without a home, without a family and new to a city filled with people who hate him. 
 As the world around them changes, Maeve and Alasdair must decide who to trust and how to survive.
