There is a world where you're born with a tattoo. This tattoo is called the soul mate mark, or mark for short. When we are born each soul mate gets the same tattoo and each pair of tattoos is unique in it's own little way. There's one little catch though, you can't show anyone your tattoo before you turn 18. If you do, you and your soul mate will never be happy or in some cases, you will never meet.
Meet Cassidy. She's a short, 16 year old girl with dark brown hair, and electric blue eyes. She's always had the perfect life, well until now. She has one little problem, she fell in love with a boy before her revelation year and what's worse is he fell in love with her too. Cassidy and Tyler, her boyfriend, had the perfect relationship but will all that change when he turns 18 and finds his soul mate? Or will they fight for a love that could never be? But the real question is, when she finds her soul mate, will she still love Tyler or will she give it all up for a boy the fates picked for her? In this society, everyone has a soulmate. And the way to find yours is just look. Along with a soulmate, everyone has a small tattoo on their cheek with a symbol. Some could be a star, a flower, a yinyang, a fish, or even waves. There are so many people that the symbols are almost limitless. The tattoos don't care about gender or number. There could be gay matches, and there could even be polyamorous matches. The tattoos will tingle when you are near to your sm. And they will glow if you have found only one of your sm's if your match was poly. The trick is, you don't get the tattoo until you are 16. And even if you are near your match, as long as one of you are not of age, your tattoo will not tingle. Also, they are normal tattoos (except you don't get it or choose it, it just appears) so you can get rid of it. But if you do, your sm won't die but they will get very sick. The main characters of this story, Violet West (18) and Harper Black (20), both have a flame tattoo on their cheek. They live in the same state but for 4 years Harper paniced because she couldn't find her match. She wasn't sure if it was because her sm wasn't of age yet or if her sm lived far away.
