It sucks wanting something you aren't legally supposed to have. Fifteen year old, Marli Dahnae Willo grew up in the horrible Newark, NJ. Well, that was until her parents got into a nasty divorce. The outcome of that lead Marli, her seven year old sister (Montae Jahli Willo), and her father out of state in mid September. They relocated to Austell, GA; Where she'll have too start a new chapter in her life: highschool. She expected great things, but with every expectation comes disappointments. She'd soon come across seventeen year old, Quante Hills: The self-proclaimed "heart throb" of SC Highschool. What started out as emotionally distant group members somehow turned into two people in different ways yearning for one another. Will their environment allow that feeling to grow? Will one be able to truly receive what they desire? "I got my heart's desire, and there my troubles began." - Lev Grossman. (Full Description in Intro Chapter)

"Get your ass up! I'm tired of telling you!" Fifteen-year-old Manny Mari knows the drill: wake up before Mom's tech-hand yanks him out of bed, wrangle his demonic twin siblings (Keoni and Keuri) before they burn down the apartment, and survive another day in Reform City-where the air is poison, the rich breathe clean, and the only sport left is war. But today feels different. Maybe it's the way the roots under their floor pulse when Mom whispers to the old gods. Maybe it's the twins' newest stunt-brainwashing a Spire loyalist during devotionals. Or maybe it's Brooke, the girl downstairs, who leaves Manny speechless with her hazel eyes and lethal wit-even as her Spire-issued tech slowly eats her alive. When a government transport rumbles past, its enhanced soldiers staring at the untouched Amari kids like lab specimens, Manny realizes: Their time hiding is over.
