Sage was found in Atlanta without her parents there was an incident where her whole family was killed by walkers and sage had to watch her family be ripped apart. She doesn't even know what happened to her dad. She showed up with rick when the group found them both trapped in a tank of some sort. Sage was known for being tough and not going soft on anyone or anything she was alone for months prior and finally had people that were willing to love and support her.
