Drums...fire...blood... and guns...

A race for your life...in a time long since forgotten.

The Great Plains of the United States of America were a rich unspoiled Eden; but the white man has come, and with him he brings hundreds of thousands of others.

Yvonne "Evie" Mount, never thought she would be here.

She was born and raised in the northeast to a single mother, and she had no siblings to her knowledge.

Yvonne never thought the man of her dreams would break her heart...that she would go to ease her sorrows in the depths of the Midwest...or that she would fall through time itself.

Follow Yvonne as she faces the trials and tribulations of The United States in the 1860s....The Civil War has just ended, The President has been assassinated, and The Indian Wars have come.

As Evie finds herself thrown into the world of the past, she must deal with love and tragedy, along the Great Plains of the United States.

Growing up in chaos isn't simple for all. Not many could cope. They would struggle and kick, but ultimately drown. However, for Dakota, that was his normality. Torturing. Maiming. Killing. That was his life, the life of a hunter. The Arizona line was elusive, written fame in the lore of hunters, and infamy for their prey. They were the best. No one could ever compare to their skills, their abilities, their ruthlessness. But Dakota was something else. His siblings might have learnt to enjoy the hunt, well most of them anyway, but Dakota didn't. There was always something missing for him, something he was waiting on. Silent and everlasting hope. A promise had been made to him, the day his twin brother was stolen, taken by the enemy, plucked right from the very home the Arizonas had grown up in. A promise of something better, something that he might actually want in his life. Now, almost sixteen years later, something was coming. A change was begging to be found. Maybe it would be for the best. Maybe Dakota would finally find that certain something that had been missing his whole life, something to fill the dark and fractured abyss that ached and wailed within. But nothing was ever that simple. Because, of course, the promise that had been made to Dakota would never be anything plausible for him, anything tangible to have and to hold. He had been promised a new life, by the greatest enemy of them all. It wouldn't be easy. Not with his family still clinging to his heels, the teachings of blood and violence burnt into his mind. No, leaving them behind wouldn't ever be easy. Then again, staying with them would only bring his inevitable death. Why not take the chance to die happy? After all, out of the ashes, a phoenix will rise...

Sex, drugs and the death-dealing pressure to make money night after night - It's a steep, downward spiral which 19-year-old Elijah Everdeen has found himself stuck in ever since his parents died. If it weren't for his two siblings, he would have given up years ago. For a long time, he wanted to, thought about it every day even. Sometimes - in the cruelest, darkest of nights - he still does. But if this black-and-white world has really become Elijah's grim reality, then why is this young, mysterious man capable of adding color and a heartbeat to this dreadfully achromatic still life Eli is trapped in? Who is he? And...who is he REALLY? ~~~~~ DISCLAIMER: The storyline of this book is entirely fictional, it does not intend to mimic or describe real circumstances. 'There's something beyond the mirrors...' She should probably be choosing her majors for college, considering a career, and the direction for the rest of her life. Instead - she's still working at the small town coffee shop where she got her first job. And while commuting from a bigger city to the much smaller town of Briarsfield where she grew up is a pain, Evie likes the stability. The normalcy. Because the dreams or nightmares that Evie had started having a little over a year ago now are anything but normal. Dreams of an endless void of fog. They've persisted and refused to leave her alone now for months. And Evie is haunted by the chilling feeling that she is not alone in the fog. But when the fog suddenly becomes real, weather completely uncommon for Briarsfield at this time of year, Evie wakes up to a sensation of dread. And that something is very different. And very wrong. That something has changed and she's been suddenly put at the epicenter. At the precipice of something life altering. Or world ending.
