Trying to escape from his former life with his abusive husband, Arthur Fleck runs into a strange mysterious man at an abandoned night club (Jack Napier) Arthur sees that the man has been injured badly and offers to help him but informs him that he cannot take him to his home for it was unsafe. Over the course of the next few weeks Arthur helps the man heal as they devise a plan to murder Arthur's abuser and run away together.
