An unlikely pair meet and form an unbreakable bond. Wren and Athen are both heirs, but to very different thrones. Athen, the son of a tyrannical emperor, was abandoned as an infant and taken in by a kind faerie named Amira. Wren, the child of the leaders of the revolution against the dynasty, watches their family get slaughtered for their defiance. Running into the forest to escape the same fate. the two meet and form an unlikely bond, growing up together and being raised by the fae. When they finally leave the nest to go out on their own, their pasts come back to haunt them and it seems they are more intertwined with one another's fate than anyone had previously thought them.
