donna had never been outside of the village for as long as she'd been alive. she wasn't even sure what it was like out there, but she knew that the world was very, very big. her village probably wasn't even a fraction of the country. she had always wanted to leave, though. deep inside, donna longed for something more than devoting her entire life to mother miranda. it didn't take too much thought for her to decide to go along with them.
"okay." she said softly. "but promise me that you'll help me find somewhere to stay?"
"i promise. i'll be with you every step of the way, there's no way you'd survive out there on your own." ethan held out his one remaining pinky finger.
donna briefly interlocked her finger with his. "go save your daughter."
