This is my take on And the Universe Shifts if my OC was in it in the happenings of S7. (I suggest you go read ATUS first if you haven't. It's on Ao3) In this storyline, the Watchers weren't actually killed (I'll explain how and why later in the book). And they are the only two Watchers in existence (unlike the finale in ATUS, where Grian states that there will be more coming to claim the territory). Why do bad things happen to good people? A question that his boy is making himself more then ever this days. From the beginning we see a 17 year old boy, struggling to finish high School, filled up with insecurities, mental health issues, a toxic family home, and impossible standards to live up to. He has learn to not only hate his life, but to want finish it off as fast as possible. Close to finally graduating high school his English teacher, Mr Steve, assigns the class a special progect. "To be able to see life through different eyes, and write about it." For this, Mr Steve gets his class to assist a hospital 3 times a week, and assigns each student, with a patient. This is the moment where this boy meets Royal, a cancer sick 17 year old girl, that has lived in a hospital her hole life, but still finds beauty and meaning in it. Through out the report the boy gets more and more involved in Royal's life, spending unfortunately moments together. But through out the journey he asks himself more and more. The ancient rulers of the world was stirring, and Steve would be caught in between them if they decided to show up. Let's say, he wouldn't fancy meeting them. "Come on now, those so called gods are just superpowered beings. They have fallen, they lose their way, make mistakes, and they aren't necessarily all knowing.
