What if... Teresa never went with Thomas when she died, but instead, got the serum and went to try to save Newt without anyone knowing. Everyone would be gone to the Safe Heaven thinking Newt and Teresa are dead. But 1 month later, Newt woke up, healthy again and cured. Newt and Teresa then make a team to try and get back to the Safe Heaven where is everyone. This is the last book in the Maze Runner trilogy. Newt, Casey, Thomas, Brenda, and Frypan have escaped the Glade and the Scorch. Now they just have one thing left to do; rescue Minho and take down WCKD. The storyline of this book has been altered slightly in some parts to fit Casey's character into the plot, there are also some new scenes that weren't originally in the story, since Thomas is not the main character. The main characters in this story are Newt and Casey. It is written in first person, and the point of view switches between Newt and Casey. This book is only inspired from the series Maze Runner.
