My life hasn't been the same since the day April, and I separated. In every relationship I've been in since April and I split up, I find myself comparing each woman to her. I'm not saying that they weren't great women. They just weren't April. Every time I feel myself getting too close to someone, the ghostly presence of April would always barge right in the middle and ruin something that could have been great.

Leaving Ethan behind was the second-hardest thing I've had to live through in my life, but I knew that he needed some time and space away from me. Maybe I needed some alone time to work on healing myself. Once we focus on ourselves, perhaps we'll both realize that we just weren't meant to be together. Occasionally, I lie around the house and wonder if Ethan and I were forcing ourselves to be together because neither one of us could stand the thought of seeing each other with someone else.
