Lyra Davis was one of the best detectives for the NYPD; She's courageous, impulsive, and driven.
Raymond Hart was Lyra's favorite partner, because not only did he match all of her core values, he was a good compliment to her and made her happy.
They were really good friends and partners, until one day, Ray was trapped in a hostage situation at a bank that resulted in the bank exploding and his death.
Lyra was devastated, along with her friends, Rick and Dan, who were also in the force; They were a group, and now one of their members is gone and it feels wrong.
2 years after the bombing, Lyra still can't deal with bombing cases and can't handle talking about Raymond, but after a murder investigation leads them to find out Raymond may be involved, she has to rethink everything.
Because not only is he involved, but he could also be alive.
Lyra is determined to figure out what happened and get her friend back or put him behind bars, whichever ends up needing to happen.
Follow Lyra as she falls down a rabbit hole of Ray's life and learns many new things about herself and Raymond in My Kevlar Surrounded Heart.

This book is something I'm working on for Creative Writing class, so it'll be updated a bit more often then others because I plan to work on chapters in order even if we aren't supposed to.
This book is written from the POV of Lyra.

The Final Smile
Raymond hadn't taken five steps when the sack suddenly moved. He froze instantly and his skipping heart started running a hundred meter race. He tried to bring down his fear by blaming the wind for the occurrence but the sack moved again, very softly, and he knew that whatever is inside that sack is responsible for the movements. He discarded his fear and moved towards the sack. He looked around in utmost fear hoping that some of the scenes in Hollywood movies would not manifest; where police men would round up good Samaritans assuming them to be murderers. The environment was utterly dark and he could not see anything asides bushes. He reached down and pulled down the loose top of the sack and what manifested before him was the face of a human being. His heart almost stopped from fear as his prediction had become reality. Raymond's breathing was not coordinated at all and he had gone pale. The face was slightly covered with mud but the entire hair was immersed in it. From the hair, he knew it had to be a girl so he pulled the sack down to the waist line of the body with his shivering hands. He looked up and nearly died of fright when he met the eyes of the girl slightly open and in his direction. He started wondering if she was a spirit or a witch sent to kill him but then he saw how pale she looked and warded off his vague thought. He glimpsed a thick mass of blood on her stomach and winced internally. She started moving uncomfortably and seemed to be doing that unconsciously. He hurriedly pulled out the sack and threw it into the bush. Without even considering the risk of picking her up, he whisked her into his arms and made for his car. Raymond is already frustrated with his relationship with Tinuke his fiance but can't end it..... Not until he met Lucy in a sack.
