I bit my lip, and opened my mouth but the only word that came out was
"Fuck." 
He just stared at me. He stared at me like i was stupid, like i just slapped him across the face. 
I guess i deserved that look. I had chosen to dance the dangerous dance with love and it seemed like i was majorly messing up the steps. 
"Audrey." He whispered, breaking my heart. I didn't want to see him in so much pain, not now. Not hours before my birthday, before Christmas. 
I pulled on his tie, pulling him closer to me. Our foreheads touched, sending shivers through my whole body.
