Against all odds, 16-year-old Aerie gets chosen to train as a soldier for the male-dominated Division tasked with the defense of Earth - at least what's left of it after climate change left the landscape scorched and its people broken.
The initiation is grueling and the pressure is on when she learns that failure will result in death.
