Death isn't a big deal in Vega's world. There isn't a reason to live anymore. Her friends - dead. Her family - all dead. She is one of the last 100 on Earth, left from a horrid plague that killed off billions. Vega survived the plague, so she can survive anything. Right?
People are grouping up and killing the last survivors. They are burning down houses and the wilderness - killing off the people and the animals.
Someone begins appearing out of the forest, only speaking to Vega. She is his messenger to the others.

No one really knew how X's came to be. One day there weren't any, the next day half the population was wiped out. All Karma knew was that they are technological monsters, fit to be the world's biggest weapon, after the splitting particle ray which could reduce any person into air particles in a millisecond. Karma realised how simple it would be to destroy an army even with one X. They were practically indestructible, perfect killing machines, only they'd turned on the government, apparently. Or maybe those bastards had escaped perfectly unharmed, watching how the country was being destroyed. Every day that passes by without finding a portal brings the morale lower. They need to escape the country before they all end up dead.
