Aspiration

You wake up in your messy bedroom, and check the calender. The date is February 21st, better known as Raffle day. Everyone that is currently eighteen years old is mailed a ticket, with a number and your birth month. This ticket holds the key to your future. A number for each month is generated out of a small computer, and listed on the internet. What happens if you win? You get a single wish to request, and it comes true. People wish for things like wealth, love, happiness, and power. Once you redeem the ticket, your one true desire comes true, and you are given the opportunity to live the happiest life you could possibly lead.

Of course, everything that is wished for doesn't appear from thin air. Whatever you wish for, is taken from another person that you are unable to control. Money is stolen from major corporations, causing mass bankruptcy. The love blossoming in one's heart is drained from another's happy relationship. Happy people stop waking up in the morning, with all of their optimism seized against their will. Political order is hopeless, when major countries such as America and Britain are administered by a new dictator every year. But the greed of the human race can't be tamed, so the world falls into anarchy.

To top it all off, not everyone survives the journey to the country capital to turn in the ticket. Jealous souls roam the globe, waiting for their moment to snatch a ticket and steal the wish for themselves. It is up to a single individual to end the madness... But will anyone be generous enough to sacrifice their wish to make it come true?
