When Maeve exiles her from Terresan, she flees back to Doranelle, in case Maeve wanted to kill her, knowing she sort of has no place to go back to. Despite knowing Rowan would be upset since he actually loved her, she needed to leave for his sake. She knew Maeve lied. That she wasn't his mate.
