I am a reader of crime novels and hard science fiction almost exclusively, and yet this story, which I have been writing for a long time, is a love story, I can't explain it even to myself. The characters will have to work through hardship and evolve to be able to surrender to the magical things around them and the flow of the universe and the love of other people. So if you were bonded with a bird, you could transform your arms into wings and fly. If you were bonded to a rabbit, you could transform your ears into rabbit ears for great sense of hearing. But Familiar's can be anything. From a sparrow, to the largest of all Familiars, a dragon. But creatures like dragons live in Dragon Mountain, and are very protective of each other if they don't have a human that they are bonded to.
