"I'm scared Harry!" I shout, finding some courage to voice my concerns. "Why? Tell me what scares you Maci and we can work through it, together," Harry asked, concern written all over his face as he watches me from where he stands in the kitchen. "It's like this is all too good to be true. You will change like the rest of them. They are all nice at first and then they change. They are nice to lure you in but once you're hooked, that's when their true colors come out. I've seen it a hundred times with my mother. I've gone through it with Kaleb. It will happen with you." My voice grew weaker as I neared the end of my rambling. My lip trembled as I looked down at my bare feet, avoiding Harry's intense stare. I chuckled slightly and shook my head. "Does that usually work for you? The cute little remarks and that nice smile." I teased. He gave me a sheepish look of surprise. "Most girls would be flattered at my attempt to flirt with them." I scoffed and shook my head. "Well, as a member of the "most girls" community, I can say that I am not." "Wow. That's a bit harsh." He gave me a smug look and crossed his arms. "Sorry," I shrugged. "I'm immune to boy charms. In fact, I think I'm allergic." "Well, don't think so highly of yourself. Just because you have cute dimples and a pretty face, doesn't mean I find you attractive." ------------------------------ Maya Cameron is a senior at Ohio State University and this is the year where you need to get your life together before you get pushed out into the real world. Writing is the only thing that keeps her sane after all of the trauma she's been though. With her mom and dad's unfortunate death, she's been left under the care of her evil step-aunt and forced to stay with her annoying step-cousin. As if college isn't stressful enough. And then there's this other guy in her life. They met online by accident and have been talking for months but she's not brave enough to make it something real. Will Ashby is the all-around superstar on campus. He's practically royalty because he's the running back on the Ohio State Football team: one of the best college football teams in America. Will is the person guys want to be and guy girls want to be with. But in actuality, he'd rather blend in with the background noise. His only focus has been football and finishing his degree. That was until he met this girl. He doesn't even know her name or what she looks like, but she's the girl he'd want to be real with.
