Long ago, there were cities where people had special abilities, far beyond what normal humans could do. For many generations, they protected their world from evil, standing strong and unbeatable. But one terrible mistake changed everything. Someone from within betrayed them, or maybe it was a spell gone wrong, or a promise broken. This mistake brought a powerful curse upon their people. Once the truce between dragons and elves is made the dragons gave the elves three eggs, once they hatched the new riders must train to become the heroes and protectors Eragon (the original one not Eragon Brom's son) expects them to be, but then the new queen Dellanir forbids dragon riders to enter the elves' forests, making it a little more difficult.
