After Lilliana Moore reunited with the love of her life, Elijah Mikaelson, all she wanted to do was return to Mystic Falls and rest for a while, maybe go on a holiday. 

But with the return to Mystic Falls to confront Klaus, Elijah's nefarious younger half-brother, came the cure for vampirism, and then a surprise came - in the form of a witch, who seemed to be staging an elaborate plot against the paranoid Niklaus from the old home of the Original vampires, New Orleans, Louisiana. 
In an attempt to stop this witch from going through with the plot, Niklaus Mikaelson travels to New Orleans, encountering an old friend - or rather, an enemy, his adopted son and now king of New Orleans, Marcellus Gerard. What he finds there will shake the lone hybrid to his very core... 

And change the Original family forever, setting the chaotic family of vampires, as well as Lilliana, either on a course of love and redemption, or to ruin and death.

They were not only royalty but moroi, meaning a kind of vampire that also had magic, where when it came to harvest season the witches decided that the daughter, Vasalisa Dragomir, would be sacrificed, in which her family refused not wanting her to die nor share they're magic with them and so, the witches had them killed and forced the harvest onto Vasalisa anyway. But Marcel Gerard, the vampire who worked side by side with the Dragomirs in rebuilding this city after the Mikaelsons destruction came to save her. And since then he had locked her up in an attic for her own safety, where to many they had thought the Dragomir line had died out, but when the Mikaelsons return back to New Orleans, Vasalisa still being alive starts to create a problem for those who are alive and those who are long dead. Where when a certain Mikaelson who has always had an affiliation for witches, he finds himself falling for the powerful moroi princess of New Orleans.
