Why, no one knows.  George found out about DreamXD, and Dream found out about GeorgeHD.  They became quick friends.

GeorgeHD is trying to get to DreamXD, by finding and protecting Dream.  DreamXD is trying to get to GeorgeHD, by finding, helping, and protecting George.  

Helping the other, or being with the other, made them feel closer to their loved one even if their loved one was thousands of miles away.
