But as soon as they tell the secret to her, an unidentified man breaks into their small cottage. He mercilessly killed her grandparents, but in a way that wasn't humanly possible. Thus this was her first encounter with a being like this, a vampire... Mariko now seeks out to find out her grandparents killer, and her unknown mother who abandoned her.
