I stare out the window, looking for anything suspicious. I hear footsteps approaching me from behind and stiffen.

  "Are you okay, Sarah?," Michael asked, trying to hold my shaking hands. He's always been there for me. He always knows when my instincts are in action.

  "No, I'm not. What if they find us?" I try to calm down, but to no avail. 

  "Sarah, they won't find us." He holds me close to his chest. He will always protect me. I almost fall asleep.

  "I know," I said, taking a deep breathe. "I love you, Michael."

  I'm wearing the leather jacket he bought me for my last birthday. I am 18. No family. Just my boyfriend, Michael.

  My mom and little brother are safe somewhere far away. My dad is nowhere to be found.
