I feel uneasy under his gaze, and i feel his eyes burning a hole in the side of my face. "No, I won't explain because it's not important." He says in a low, almost, growl. I flinch and look back into his eyes. I feel hurt by his words and I don't know why, but I know he sees it in my eyes. His faces flashes with regret but it's quickly covered up with his faces going back to it's hard cold look. I feel my heart stop and my face go pale. His look terrified me making me hold my breath. "Breath." He orders. I start to breathe again and just blink at him. "Now go." He orders me again. I flinch involuntarily at his tone and jump back slightly. "Please don't let me walk home alone." I beg in a quiet voice, looking down at my feet. The next thing I see are his black combat boots right in front of my shoes. I look up into his eyes and he looks down into mine confusion written all over his face. "How come you aren't running yet?" He questions searching my eyes. "I just can't walk home alone, please I'm scared." I hear him chuckle. "You aren't afraid of me? What can possibly be scarier than me?" He asks. "Well, I know you will keep me safe." "Why is that?" The corner of his mouth tilts upward slightly. I smile again. A smile!? A tiny one, but still. "Hm. So I got you to smile, that's progress, yeah? Can I get your name now?" He continues to shake his head. I fold my arms, leaning back in my seat. "Yeah, it's definitely sticking. Teddy.....It has a nice ring to it, yeah?" For the entirety of their relationship, D has been abusing Rae both physically and mentally, and she knows she can't take much more of it but also can't bring herself to leave him. In steps Dabi, your typical "bad guy" who makes the difficult decision to break away from his villain-like persona to protect her as a way of undoing his ignorance in his own past. -- I will admit that this will likely be very out-of-character Dabi! I'm not the best at writing people with personalities like his, but I will try my best. This is a universe where people have quirks (I call them abilities/powers in the work), but it's not as common as it is in the canon universe. Dabi is not a member of the LOV/PLF, as they AND the hero society do not exist in this world. He still has a vengeance towards his father, but I'm approaching it in a different light - one you will see as you read. This work does have mentions of physical, mental, and emotional abuse as well as alcohol and drug use. Please proceed with caution and know that I do not write about these things lightly!
