Jack Gilinsky, a junior, is that guy at Brimble High School that makes all the girls go crazy, the good and bad ways. 
Emma a 8th grader is that social outcast at Landon Middle School that has few friends and no admirers. Emmas cousin and Jacks friend is Jack Johnson who invites both of them to a party where the two meet, thinking their only a grade apart. But they soon find that they are 3 grades apart and challenges head their way . And as their relationship is mending Sammy Wilk has to come and shatter it, trying to be the one who ends up with emmas heart. Nobody knows why but she just has a personality that brightens the boys' dull words
