Moana Alona grew up asthmatic and weak but despite those, she had a heart of a warrior and a spirit of a fighter. Growing up, she was a very sheltered child and with the health problems that she had, having strict parents who constantly reminded her about her health issues was not fun at all. She basically spent her childhood in their lonely mansion. Although she was fully aware of the health complications she had, she wanted to explore what it meant to be free. She envisions herself in the ocean, just moving like the waves-unrestricted and free. Just like what she wanted her life to be. So for the first time in her life, she did what she thought was impossible. She escaped, flew far away from her lavish yet lonely life, and eventually found herself on a little island she called her mini paradise. For the first time in her life, she felt like she was breathing freely-breathing to live-and not just breathing to survive. She fell in love with the place but just like every island love story, she also falls in love with a hot tan surfer who happens to be a local in the area. It was the little life she wanted. Turns out, it's more than just a summer fling.

This book comes out of Kindle Select in a week so I'm going to start posting it a chapter at a time in its entirety. Summer's Last Breath is the prequel novel to The Emerald Series. One of my dad's favorite sayings is, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." Well, Jamie Jacobs happened. Jamie was, and always would be, forbidden fruit. Besides being four years older than me, he was the newest recruit of my dad's experimental team. Jamie was also the experimental part of the team. Meaning he wasn't exactly human. He was amazingly more than human. What better person to recruit to be on a SEAL-type team than someone who was literally born to be in the water? Some people go their whole lives and never know love. I knew it at sixteen. While I didn't know Jamie forever, I knew him long enough that he changed me. He didn't mean to break my heart. He didn't mean to crush my dreams, but he did. And if I had it to do all over again, I would. I absolutely would. This is our story. Because I never want to forget.
