The battle against the invasive Black Masks leaves the entire Valley reeling, the effects of which have become nearly unbearable. On top of being faced with new responsibilities, Phoenix is now left perturbed by Hawk's sudden coldness after Aleu's subsequent death. As the situation grows more and more dire, the Saviors and Reapers are still fighting more than ever. The two groups can't afford to lose any more people. Once again Hawk and Phoenix are forced to work together for the sake of their people, especially when given an impossible task. Meanwhile Aleu wakes up in the city, countless miles from where they had supposedly been mercy-killed. Faced with complete strangers that had taken them in-and their frustratingly calm leader Khan-they must learn to either assimilate or return to their abusive Keepers. ___________ Recommended to read both Wake of the Dead and Rise of the Dead (1) before continuing. Age recommendation is 18+ due to harsh language, (mild) sexual situations and violence. This story involves a character recovering from emotional trauma and SA. Nothing graphic or non-consensual is depicted, nor taken lightly.
