"Hi, I'm Melodie," I say, breaking the awkward silence.

"Pretty name," he replies.  "I'm the devil."

Melodie Clayton lost her fiancé exactly a year ago, and the memory of his death haunts her everyday life. Her best friend, Violet, convinces her to go out on a blind date to signify the anniversary of her late beloved one. Melodie begrudgingly agrees to go out on one, just to please Violet.

They decide to meet up again the next Friday. Then the next. Soon enough, they start meeting every Friday. Melodie looks at them as the best part of her weeks. She counts down the days until the next Friday. She finds herself falling. Falling for this mysterious stranger who she knows nothing about.

But Jax is hiding a big secret from Melodie, and Melodie is unwilling to give herself up to anyone who won't be honest with her.
