Daughter of James and Lily Potter, Genevieve is separated from her twin brother Harry at the age of 1 by Dumbledore and sent to live with Evelyn and Zane Scamander, son of Newt and Porpentina. Over the years, Veve becomes family friends with the Weasleys and childhood best friends with Ron. Before her 11th birthday, she talks to her older stepbrother Andrew about the magical schools.

A few years later, Genevieve finds herself surrounded by loneliness, and is somewhat jealous of Harry. Meanwhile, a young Slytherin has been keeping eyes on her. Although disgusted at first, she finds light in his heart.

Recovering is a long path, mostly including forgetting his crisp blonde hair by hanging out with her stepbrother and his friends over the summer. But with the heartbreak of someone and the death of another, she finds herself tangled in a romance with her best friend's older brother. Will Veve be able to feel happiness ever again? Will she be as bright in her upper years as she was when she stepped through the Hogwarts doors for the first time? How will she find peace with her own brother before he steps into danger? And how will she stop the jealousy of her ex from getting in between her and this newfound love?
